Undergraduate Research Assistant — Pan-Lab, Waterloo, ON (Aug 2026 – Present)
- Leading the mechanical design of a high-precision automated material dispenser to enable autonomous execution in a self-driving lab environment.
- Implementing PID control routines integrated with a custom dosing architecture to deliver precise and reliable automated material handling.
- Designing, integrating, and assembling the electromechanical hardware set up to automate workflow and optimize system delivery performance.
Mechanical Designer Co-op — AVL Manufacturing, Hamilton, ON (May 2026 – Aug 2026)
- Drafted and maintained 100+ SolidWorks drawings spanning assemblies, parts, and site installation packages for structural enclosures from 500 kW up to hyperscale-class standby generators.
- Remodeled imported STEP geometry for structural skid assemblies (ASTM A36 steel, 5000-series aluminum) into full drawing packages and purchase orders.
- Modeled fastener selection across 100+ standard sizes and produced weldment drawings with weld-access clearance.
- Conducted FEA confirming compliance with a 200 lb/ft² floor loading spec and 3:1 safety factor.
Mechanical Engineer, Vehicle Dynamics — Midnight Sun Design Team, Waterloo, ON (Sept 2025 – Present)
- Redesigned a rotor to resolve upright interference, shifting from a flanged design to a water-jettable flat rotor across 2 iterations.
- Performed structural FEA on suspension control arms and caliper mount to satisfy FSGP's 2x safety factor.
- Machined finalized suspension components via manual milling and produced supporting detail drawings.
Mechanical Systems Engineer, Electrical Integration — Electrium Mobility, Waterloo, ON (July 2024 – Aug 2024)
- Integrated electrical and mechanical subsystems on a high-performance e-bike.
- Optimized a 180 in³ battery pack configuration and executed spot-welding for validated connectivity.
- Conducted battery testing and validation prior to drivetrain integration.
- Operated shop machinery — band saws, drill presses — to support fabrication.
Collaborative Poker-Dealing Robot (Robotics)
- Built the electro-mechanical system engineering a belt-driven linear rail for chip ejection.
- Achieved a sub-6-second chip ejection cycle and sub-10-second full move.
- Developed a USB interface between a Teensy and a Jetson Nano for vision-based card detection.
Autonomous Domino-Arranging Robot (Robotics, C++)
- Achieved a 98% placement rate at a 6-second cycle time via a custom rack-and-pinion mechanism.
- Designed a 30-domino magazine with custom 3D-printed and laser-cut components.
- Coded a C++ control UI with 5 patterns, colour-sensing logging, and collision detection.
User-Configurable Music Device
- Engineered a bead-driven conveyor translating crank input into 50–150 BPM musical output.
- Designed a multi-component SolidWorks assembly meeting acoustic and timing constraints.
- Validated designs through prototyping, reaching ≥90% bead collection efficiency.
- Directed training for 100+ swimmers, drawing on 10+ years of competitive experience — Club Warriors (2021–Present).
- Coordinated seasonal preparation for 10+ competitive meets, designing training plans and analyzing times in Excel.
- Coordinated venue, materials, and session flow for a 200+ participant STEM conference — Canadian Youth STEM Conf. (2023–2024).
- Oversaw schedules and transitions for 10 speakers from the University of Toronto and University of Waterloo.
- Balanced 15+ hrs/week of varsity training with a full-time course load — Waterloo Varsity Swimming (2025–Present).
